Sensitive Dogs

Support for those dogs who find our human world challenging

Sensitive Dogs

Our passion lies with Sensitive Dogs, often termed reactive dogs. Inspired by our Rhodesian Ridgeback Jonty, we have produced two Sensitive Dogs courses, both taught using Animal Centred Education and positive training methods.

There is a Live Taught Online course, so location doesn't matter - anyone can join us!

There is an in person course that has a maximum of 2 dogs per class so we can give you and your dog the support you need.

These courses are aimed at supporting you, to support your sensitive dog. Inspired by our own Rhodesian Ridgeback Jonty and the learnings from Animal Centred Education, we are pleased to bring you these courses packed full of tips, advice and skills to help your sensitive dog feel and cope better.

Often sensitive dogs reactions in certain situations can display in behaviours such as jumping up, mouthing, lead ragging, grabbing, barking, lunging, barking.

Living with a sensitive dog can be exhausting, lonely, frustrating and upsetting. The core of these courses is aimed at developing your understanding of key areas of sensitive dogs, the impact this can have on their daily life and how we can support them navigate our world.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by a 'sensitive' dog?

Sensitive dogs, sometimes called reactive dogs, are dogs who find living in our human world challenging. They may react strongly to other dogs, people, noises or situations. Our approach is about understanding and supporting them rather than simply suppressing the behaviour.

How can I access the Sensitive Dogs course?

There are two ways: a live, taught online course, or an in-person training course. Both go into the knowledge and understanding behind sensitive behaviour and how to support your dog. You'll find current dates and prices on our Book Online page.

Is the course right for my reactive dog?

If your dog struggles with the everyday world, whether that's other dogs, visitors, traffic or noise, then yes, this is designed for exactly that. Get in touch if you'd like to talk it through first.

Do you offer one-to-one support for sensitive dogs as well as the course?

Yes. Alongside the course we offer private one-to-one sessions for dogs who need individual support or aren't comfortable in a group setting. If you'd like a one-to-one session, just contact us and we'll book in an initial call.

What approach do you use?

We use ACE (Animal Centred Education), force-free, kind and reward based methods, focused on building confidence, connection and lasting change rather than quick fixes.
