By working together we will help you understand your dog as they navigate the adolescent phase, which can take place from 6-24 months of age (approximately).

Every behaviour happens for a reason and we look into these different reasons and at how to help your dog progress and succeed, whilst dealing with the challenge of adolescence. During the course we will help you develop your connection with your dog, sharpen your observation skills and your understanding of your dog, as well as equip you with a range of practical coaching skills, using positive training methods.

To have successful skills such as recall, loose lead walking and be able to deal with distractions, our dog needs to be able to deal with and cope in different situations and environments. We look at the impact adolescence has on our dog and their ability to execute behaviours and skills.

Join us to explore how your dog’s emotional, physical and mental wellbeing impact their behaviour and learn how to support and coach your dog so that they are able to perform desired skills such as recall and loose lead walking.

Once your dog reaches 12 months (or 18 months for larger breeds), they can join our Agility classes at our Hunstrete coaching centre — a relaxed, non-competitive way to keep building confidence and the bond between you.

Adolescent Training FAQs

When is the adolescent phase in dogs?

The adolescent phase typically takes place from around 6 to 24 months of age. It's the stage where many owners struggle most, as behaviours that were going well can suddenly become harder.

Why has my dog's behaviour changed during adolescence?

Every behaviour happens for a reason. Adolescence affects your dog's emotional, physical and mental wellbeing, which in turn affects their ability to perform skills like recall and loose lead walking. We help you understand these reasons and support your dog through them.

What will we work on?

We help you develop your connection with your dog, sharpen your observation skills, and build practical coaching skills using positive training methods, so your dog can cope in different situations and environments.

What packages are available for adolescent dogs?

Options include ACE Adolescent (an exclusive 6 or 12 month one-to-one package), our Consultation Package, and our Relaxed Lead Walking Package (four one-to-one sessions). We'll help you choose the right fit.

How do I book?
